Hope and Despair

This is from a freewrite from Thursday.

Hope and despair are very important in the battles portrayed in The Lord of the Rings. Hope and despair also seem to mirror the way that the battle plays out. Hope is commonly associated with the side of Good, since it inspires people to accomplish tasks they may have thought impossible, and to never give up. When the armies of Good have hope, they are much stronger and usually begin to win agains the forces of Evil. Despair is associated with the idea of evil. When the armies of Good have lost hope and are in despair, they are demoralized. This is usually when the armies of Evil start to take the upper hand in the battle.
